Collector Coins from Mints Around the World

Magikos Coins sells collectible coins: limited-mintage silver and gold coins struck for collectors and issued as legal tender by Niue, Cameroon, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, the Cook Islands, Ghana and other countries. Every coin has a face value, a stated mintage and a certificate. Mintages are low by design: the smallest are 99 pieces, and many series stop at 500. Limited editions like these often mark an anniversary or a historical event, and they always have lower mintages than circulating coins.

This page is for collectors who want modern numismatic coins with a story and for anyone looking for a gift that lasts. Below you'll find our most popular series, how numismatic coins differ from bullion, and what to look at when you choose a coin. It matters because two coins that look alike can differ a lot in price, and knowing why helps you buy the right one.

Popular Collector Coin Series

The designs are the reason people collect them, and most series run for years, one coin at a time.

Mythology and history

Greek mythology coins, Viking coins and Egyptian coins put gods, kings and heroes into silver, often in high relief.

Wildlife and nature

Our wildlife coins range from 17.5 g Save the World pieces to deep-sea creatures with a mintage of 100.

Faith and religious art

Religious coins show saints, angels and famous paintings, a popular choice for christenings and First Communion.

Color, shape and finish

Cool silver coins add color, gemstones, 3D relief and shapes like ships and leaves. Famous paintings have their own shelf in our coin art category. We buy straight from the mints and are an authorized distributor of the Mint of Poland, Germania Mint, Power Coin, MDM, AllCollect and MINT XXI.

Numismatic Coins vs. Bullion

A bullion coin is bought for its metal and sells close to the spot price of silver or gold. Numismatic coins are valued for more: design, mintage, finish, condition and history. Two coins with an ounce of silver each can differ a lot in price when one has a mintage of 500 and a proof finish in high relief. Collector coins are bought for the design and the story; their price follows collector demand, not the metal price alone.

Collectible Silver Coins and Gold Coins

Most of our range is collectible silver coins in .999 silver, from 17.5 g pieces to 1 kg showpieces. Collectible gold coins start small, at 1/1000 oz, and go up to Masterpieces coins that set gold into 200 g of silver. New releases arrive every month, and pre-order coins are marked as pre-orders on their page.

How to Choose a Collector Coin

Pick a theme, a country or a series and build around it; a focus keeps a collection coherent and your budget under control. Check the mintage, the finish and what comes in the box. Buy the best quality you can afford, keep coins in their capsule, and never clean them: cleaning can wipe out most of a coin's numismatic value. Coins with exceptional eye appeal stay the most wanted.

Condition, grading and authenticity

Condition and grade change a coin's value more than anything else, because wear and damage show at once. Coins are graded on the Sheldon scale from 1 to 70, and grading services such as NGC and PCGS certify authenticity and condition, which gives a buyer confidence; for inexpensive coins the grading fee is often higher than the coin itself. Counterfeits are a real risk with high-value coins, so buy from sellers who stand behind what they sell. Error coins, struck with minting mistakes, are a field of their own and can be highly collectible. Store coins in a cool, dry place in protective holders.

Read our guides to starting a coin collection, mintage, coin grading and what a numismatist does for the details.

Coins as Gifts

Many customers buy for an occasion: a christening, a wedding anniversary, a birthday or Christmas. Collector coins make a gift that lasts, with a box and a certificate in most cases. Our coins as gifts page groups them by occasion.
